A Few Random Thoughts

According to an Associated Press story today, "A 39-year-old Southern California man has been arrested for misdemeanor child annoyance after allegedly paying a teenager $31 to spit in his face."  This just might be one small piece of the reasons why California is going over the cliff - how much taxpayer money did it cost for some state bureaucrat to start the ball rolling on creating a crime called "misdemeanor child annoyance" and putting it into the law books?

This afternoon, Hugh Hewitt was talking to a documentary filmmaker who made the movie "Not Evil, Just Wrong", and she said something I thought was interesting.  She said polls indicated that around half or more of the people lean conservative, and the comment is frequently made that Hollywood just makes movies that people want to see because they want to make money.  If that were true, she said, Hollywood would make more conservative movies - but almost everything they put on the screens is left-leaning, bash-America product, so they must actually want to influence people's views more than they want to make money.

Sarah Palin's book arrived this week, and she's been on Oprah, and 20/20, and Limbaugh's radio show, and Hannity's radio show, and a few others.  My question is, when is she going to be on Meet the Press, or This Week, or 60 Minutes?

Speaking of 60 Minutes, they had a feature last weekend on some amazing discoveries in T-Rex bones by a couple of pretty well-known paleontologists.  Seems they ran these "fossilized" bones through some tests and found tissue and blood vessels, then got in trouble when they published their work, which included the question, "How can a 68-million-year-old bone have tissue and blood vessels?"  Well, DUH!  How about flipping the question -- "How can a T-Rex bone with tissue and blood vessels be 68 million years old?"  Don't think it can, guys!  Maybe you'll follow the evidence this time?  (think younger)

     Time to go...it's getting late...

Do We Have To Do The Media's Job For Them???

Barack Obama says we shouldn’t jump to conclusions about the recent deadly shooting at Fort Hood, Texas.  I think there’s enough information that leads to a reasonable conclusion.  Let’s see…
  • Major Nidal Malik Hasan purchased a special handgun well in advance of his actions, showing that he did not suddenly “snap”, as some have said.
  • He posted statements on the internet that praised the actions of suicide bombers.
  • He made numerous public statements to his military colleagues and others that he “was a Muslim first, and an American second,” that the war in Iraq was “a war on Islam,” and that “the Muslims should rise up and attack the aggressor,” a statement that confused some until they realized he was saying that we were the aggressor.
  • Finally, when he launched his attack, witnesses said he shouted "Allahu Akbar", Arabic for “God is great”, as he fired, a signature cry of the jihad attacker.
With all these pieces of evidence, the media continues to tell us that investigators must wait until Hasan awakens from his coma to try to find the motive for what he did.  They talk about PTSD, they talk about gangs in the military, they talk about everything except the obvious: this man was a devout Muslim who decided to commit jihad against his own country!  This onslaught of politically correct bantering has to stop now!

PS -- Remember a few months ago when Obama's professor buddy was arrested at his home for basically being an obnoxious idiot?  Didn't BO jump to a big conclusion then, when he admitted he didn't have all the facts yet but he still said the police "acted stupidly"?

Brought to you by the letter "V"

I've been waiting for the remake of "V" for a while, wanting to see if it would be better or worse than the original 1983 version that I really loved.  I have to say, it was pretty good...except...I wasn't expecting it to recreate an Obama campaign rally!

Think about it - the Visitors suddenly show up out of nowhere (just like Obama), kick off with flashy, inspiring speeches, providing no proof to back them up (just like Obama), and when the speeches are done, the sheeple in the streets launch into applause (just like at an Obama rally).  For crying out loud, the Visitors even provided universal health care!

Hopefully, the program will continue, and viewers will eventually learn that even though the V's promise lots of good stuff (just like Obama), there's really an especially evil and sinister motive behind it all that will destroy us if it isn't stopped (just like Obama).

Something that makes me smile though - in this show, I get to watch two more Firefly alumni (Morena Baccarin and Alan Tudyk), in addition to Nathan Fillion as Castle on Mondays!

FORD: A good company beats Foolish Obama's Ridiculous Demands!

So, I heard the news on the radio today that Ford Motor Company, the only automaker that did NOT take ObaMoney, sold a lot of vehicles and made $1 Billion in profit this last quarter.  Let's look at some details -- they refused to take stimulus bucks, their Focus and Escape models were not only popular, they were the only American cars to make the top ten list of cars sold during the Cash for Clunkers period.
And wait -- the Escape is an SUV!  How 'bout them apples, as my dad used to say?

Will the Interloper get the message that just maybe Americans buy the cars they want to buy, and leave the others alone?  Nah, he doesn't get confused with facts...

They still don't get it!

Sometimes I feel like I'm the last one with an '"R" next to my name who still gets what it means to be an "R".  Now that Princess Pelosi (aka San Fran Gran Nan) has proudly laid the 1,990-page ObamaCare monstrosity on the table with a THUMP that didn't break the table the way it will break the country, there are prominent Republicans saying "look at us, we have a less expensive, less complicated plan than that one."  IDIOTS!  Are we going to have to replace them all?  They should be saying "Kill this thing, it's wrong, it's not Constitutional, it will break the bank, and government should stay completely out of it!"  Not "a different plan" - NO PLAN!

PS - If you're reading this and you're in New York's 23rd district, here's my suggestion: VOTE DOUG HOFFMAN!  Show the country that useless liberals like Scozzafava and Owens are NOT what we need!

Another Double Standard

I know, it's a Texas race and I'm in Colorado, but I can't help pointing something out.  Kay Bailey Hutchison is running for governor of Texas against Rick Perry, and I'm hearing that there is increasing pressure on her to resign her US Senate seat so she can concentrate on the governor's race.  My question is, why is this kind of thing always said ONLY to Republicans???  Senator John Kerry (who served in Vietnam, by the way), ran for president in 2004, and NOBODY said he should resign his seat.

There's that double standard in play again...

It Still Isn't Fair!

As I said recently, sports are an extremely low priority for me, actually they're pretty close to worthless in the grand scheme of things.  But there's still a bit of pride in play at this particular moment in time - my hometown Angels are fighting for that next step on the way to the World Series!

And that's where I'm still irritated - no, angry - about that stupid name.  For all my growing-up years, we had the LOS ANGELES Dodgers, the SAN DIEGO Padres, the SAN FRANCISCO Giants... and the CALIFORNIA Angels!  Why did the other teams get to associate with their cities, but WE had to get branded with the whole state???   The stadium was in Anaheim, for cryin' out loud!  Then, finally, in 2003 they officially became the ANAHEIM ANGELS!  I was ecstatic that we were at last connected with our city.

Then what happened?  After only a couple of years, the owner decided the simple phrase ANAHEIM ANGELS wasn't good enough, and he changed it to (the sheer idiocy of it all!) LOS ANGELES ANGELS OF ANAHEIM!  Now, doesn't THAT trip lightly off the tongue?

I know, I know -- it's been four years since this happened.  But as Michael Praed's embodiment of Robin Hood always said, "Nothing's forgotten.  Nothing's ever forgotten."  I haven't forgotten.  And I'm still angry.  I want my Anaheim Angels back.

Thanks, Janelle!

I got a little memory-prodding from Janelle (she commented on my last post), and made me think of a couple of things.

Right before the NFL owners' meeting, media and other assorted Rush-haters went to town with fake information in order to broad-brush Rush as a wicked racist who shouldn't be an NFL team owner.  As it turned out, they got their way, and Rush was bumped from the proposed owner partnership.  Janelle rightly pointed to Bo Snerdley, Rush's program director/board operator/call screener (and many other jobs he does on the show that keeps it going), noting that he is black and has been part of the EIB Network for years.

That made me think of another interesting thing:

WHO are two of Rush's most frequent guest hosts?  Walter E. Williams and Thomas Sowell, both prominent economists...and both BLACK!  If Rush is a horrible racist as they say, why would he even consider having blacks in a prominent operational position in his show production?  And filling in for him when he's away?  Absolutely ridiculous premise!

Why CAN'T Rush be a football team owner????

I'm not a big sports fan.  And I don't like football.  I only watch the Super Bowl for the commercials and the half-time show.  But I tell you -- I'M MAD!  I'm absolutely disgusted at what was done to Rush Limbaugh this week.  Why CAN'T he be part owner of the Rams?  He not only loves football, he's passionate about football.  Is it just because he's a conservative?  I hope he takes this one to the parking lot and legally beats the crap out of Sharpton, Jackson, and every other media player that defamed his character with their fake quotes!

Nobody cared about Ted Turner owning the Atlanta Braves!  Nobody cared about Mark Cuban owning the Dallas Mavericks!  Oh, wait a minute...they're both liberals...I guess that makes it OK.

What a Missed Opportunity!

Our Colorado Rockies (the baseball team, not the mountains) are in the playoffs again, and maybe headed to the World Series again.  Today, I told one of my conservative cohorts that they really missed out on a new record for the coldest game played (it was postponed because it was 20-some degrees last night).  He noted that they should have asked AlGore to come and throw out the first pitch, because it would have been another great testimonial to global warming!

I'm angry, I'm frustrated, and I'm...

still furious, even after the day's over.  And it's all because of comparisons...

  • Ronald Reagan worked over several years and liberated millions of Europeans from the Communist boot when he helped to bring the USSR down with his Cold War strategy of "We win, they lose!".
  • George W. Bush worked in more recent time to liberate millions of Muslims in Iraq by taking down their tyrant and exposing them to the chance to be a free people, something they never knew before.
  • All those two great Presidents got was hatred and ridicule and derision from the insane left.
  • And now, after only occupying the White House for ELEVEN DAYS (when the Nobel nominations had to be submitted), Barack Obama, the Kenyan interloper, qualifies for the Nobel Peace Prize after doing nothing but smiling a lot, conning millions of ignorant voters, and making some flowery speeches with his prized teleprompter?
Things just ain't right -- how long 'til November 2010 again?

Is this working again?

After an extended time of not being able to get into my own blog, it seems to be "gettable" again (of course, I haven't checked in a long time too).

There appears to be a new style (I don't remember it anyway) also, so I'll see if it really does work.

  • and
  • these
  • are
  • new
  • too

How about that?

What Lousy Economy?

One thing that's consistent whenever a Democrat speaks is their condemnation of the economy. The economy is always "the worst economy in (enter number) years" -- except when they're in power, of course. Well, I happened to stop by our local mall twice today, once at about noon, and again around 4:30, and found a packed full parking lot! And a whole lot of people inside spending money! Yep, I better believe those Democrats... too bad all those voters got suckered by them six weeks ago! Oh well, two years isn't that bad a sentence for getting STUCK ON STUPID!!!

Deep Dark Depression...

It's been 24 hours now, and I'm still angry, frustrated, and depressed. One of the news shows came on this morning saying, "A new day dawns in America..." Yeah, right. A new day dawned on September 12, 2001, too -- feels a lot like that. The radio talkers I listen to named off all these headlines and columns they were reading -- nobody mentioned the headline I would have written..."Majority of voters reveal their stupidity". According to Hugh Hewitt's show, San Fran Nan was on Fox News sometime today and said that "Iraq is not a war to be won, it's a situation to be solved." If that's an accurate quote, then we need to be very afraid because that kind of lunatic thinking will be only two heartbeats away from the Presidency starting in January! May God help us to figure out 1) what we did wrong that made our base so mad, and 2) exactly how the jackasses cheated their way into power this time. Because if this storming of the gates lasts more than two years, America will be in dire straits because these lefties are the "high taxes, low morals, let's talk to the jihadis who want to saw our heads off" crowd.

Thanks, John!

I LOVE Politics! And I LOVE elections! And I especially LOVE when a Democrat nimrod like John Kerry rams his foot down his throat a few days before a big election! And the bonus? It gives us all a chance to watch all the Democrats' buddies in the "unbiased" media stumble all over themselves --- "oh, he didn't really say that, he meant to say this" --- "look, his prepared text said this" --- "it was just a bungled joke" --- "an offhand remark" (that was the best one, on ABC's World News Tonight. If it was just an offhand remark, why was it the lead story?) Thanks, John, for reminding the voters that Democrats "loathe the military" (to use Clinton's words) and continue to think we're all stupid if we don't agree with them. Only a few days left until Tuesday --- VOTE REPUBLICAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
